Annual Meeting and Election 2024

              The Laclede County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold our Annual Meeting and Election on February 8, 2024 at Andy’s 417 located at 1225 Millcreek Road. Dinner will be provided along with the chance to win door prizes donated by local businesses. If you are planning to attend the Annual Dinner, please RSVP by Thursday, February 1st by calling 417-532-6305 ext. 101. Reservations are limited to the first 75 requests.

              Voting in the Board of Supervisors Election for Areas 1 and 3 will take place from February 1 – February 20, 2024. Votes can be cast at the Annual Meeting or at the Laclede County SWCD office during office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A voter can also print the ballot, complete it including

              Only a legal landowner of Laclede County or representative is eligible to cast a vote in the SWCD Supervisor elections, in both Areas. A land representative shall represent one vote in each of the Areas regardless of the number of farms claimed by that person, or where in the county they own the property. If a farm is owned by a firm or corporation it may be represented by one vote. Ballots will be available to print from the District website: https://mosoilandwater.land/laclede in addition to being available at the SWCD office.  Ballots retuned by mail must be postmarked by February 20th.  

              The district board is made up of five members. Four are elected from the four areas of the county. Elected members must be land representatives and resident taxpaying citizens for two years prior to election. The last member of the board is an ex official member appointed by the University of Missouri Extension. Board members determine the direction of the District. The District Board promotes soil and water conservation, aid agency, government or land representatives in the district with conservation measures, oversees budgetary expenditures and accept monies for the purpose of soil and water district operations and oversees personnel.  We hope to see you there. Meet the Candidates

Area 1 – Eldridge, Auglaize and May/Smith Townships

“Charlie” Charles Sullivan is a lifelong resident of Laclede County. Charlie has been a farmer all his life.  He was born on a dairy farm in Laclede County. He graduated from Stoutland High School.  Later he was drafted into the military where he served two tours in Vietnam with the Army repairing and setting up communication relay gear for the fire bases.

Charlie worked as a rural postal carrier for 36 years, retiring in January of 2024. He has served the community on a number of civic organizations: Commander of the American Legion Post – Thompson/Degraffenreid, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge 83, Lifetime member of the VFW, 25 years as a Stoutland School Board Member, 50+ years on the Stoutland Volunteer Fire Dept. Board serving as President.

Charlie has worked with the Laclede County SWCD on his 700+ acres, which covers both Laclede and Camden Counties, for 14 years.

 

Area 3 – Spring Hollow, East Lebanon, and West Lebanon

Dustin Marks is a lifelong resident of Laclede County, graduating from Conway High School in 2007.  After High School Dustin attended Linn Tech for 2 years graduating with a degree as a Heavy Equipment operator.

He began farming on his own in 2012 and became a cooperator with the District in 2015. He runs cow/calf pairs in addition to being the owner/operator of his own fencing and excavation business. 

Dustin and his wife Carson Brooke (Keesling) have one son Hudson, who is two. Dustin, Carson and Hudson attend church at Orla Baptist Church.
