The Pettis County Soil & Water Conservation District is accepting applications for a District Specialist. This is a full-time, day shift, Monday-Friday position, with health insurance (Medical, Vision, and Dental) and retirement benefits available. Starting hourly wage is $16.80 or higher based on experience and education, with advancement opportunities. These advancements are based on time in service with required testing milestones and certifications.
Job duties and responsibilities include: surveying and designing/ certifying cost-share practices in compliance with the State Soil and Water Commission and District Board policies; meeting with landowners and contractors on-site; managing and maintaining rental equipment; and other additional duties as requested. Work is performed under the supervision of the Pettis County SWCD Board of Supervisors.
The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and to travel over rough terrain is required. The applicant must have good communication skills, basic computer skills, possess the ability to work under high workloads at peak times and be able to adapt to day to day changes. Basic farm knowledge/experience or the ability to use surveying instruments is helpful but not required.
High school diploma/GED and a valid driver’s license are required. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a USDA background check.

Full-time- Monday thru Friday with option to change to Compression Time after training/probation period.

Hourly wage starts at $16.83 with advancement opportunities upon successful certification and years of service. Applicants with a related degree or 2 or more years experience will be considered for a higher starting wage.
Technician will be working with producers on various projects including intensive grazing systems, soil erosion prevention, forestry and other resource concern planning. Tasks include designing conservation practices and therefore they need good communication skills and ability to work with the public and other agencies. Good computer skills/basic farm knowledge is needed for creating the designs and contracts for the producers. They must be able to work in any type of weather and cross rough terrain as they will also be staking out and measuring for the designs. ArcMap, GPS and surveying equipment is used. Knowledge of these are preferred but they can be trained.
High School Diploma or GED and a valid Driver’s License is required.

The Dent County Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting applications for a full time
employee to fill the position of District Specialist I. Benefits include vacation, sick leave,
holiday pay, retirement, health, vision and dental insurance. This is a full time, M-F, 8-4:30
position. Starting hourly wage is $16.83 per hour, or higher based on experience and
education, with advancement. These advancements are based on time in service with required
testing milestones and certifications.
This position is responsible for but not limited to:
*Receive visitors, answer routine questions
*Assisting landowners with the implementation of state cost-share programs
* Administrative duties
*Coordinating district outreach program
*Possible field work
The ability to work with the public is a must. Must also be able to use all Microsoft programs
and be able to use a computer fluently.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. College is beneficial but not required.
Agricultural background is preferred. Must have a valid driver license. Applicant must be a
U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a USDA background
