Landowners may come in during this sign up period and place their names into our pond drawing box. The sign up is held annually from January 2nd-January 15th. After January 15th the names will be drawn from the box. The order of the names drawn is the order that the pond site eligibility check is completed. If the landowner has an eligible pond site, this is also the order that funds are distributed. The Board sets the budget each year for ponds.
The "three year rule" meaning that a landowner must wait two fiscal years after receiving cost share and is eligible in the third year applies for ponds. If a landowner has received funds for terraces more recently than the three years, they are not able to receive funds for a pond. It could be possible for a landowner to receive funds for both a pond and terraces in the same year. Currently the State maximum cost share amount for a pond is $15,000. The County maximum for cost share funds is $25,000, so a landowner could receive the $15,000 for a structure and receive an additional $10,000 on terraces. Please check with the office as to when they are accepting terrace layouts.
