Internship opportunity with the Lafayette County Soil & Water Conservation District: Duties and responsibilities: -Assist with or perform a wide variety of soil conservation duties such as maintaining accurate field notes, assembling maps and aerial photographs, reviewing crop histories, and other related work -Assist field office staff with development of conservation plans and implementation of conservation practices, shadowing field office technicians -Assist in gathering and assembling preliminary data for use in developing and applying basic conservation plans -Assist with administrative duties of filing, organizing case files -Attend trainings This position includes both field and office work. Successful candidates will work as part of a local team as well as independently, be able to traverse rough terrain on foot, spend time outdoors in summer months, able to work courteously with the public, and complete work in a timely manner. Experience and Education Qualifications: Applicant must be a higher education student currently enrolled in a college or technical school. Applicant cannot be a student who is transitioning from high school to college. Federal background check is required before starting position.
