<p>Public Participation at Supervisors Meetings Policy</p>
<p>To provide for full and open communication between the public and the Lafayette Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisors, the Supervisors authorize the following avenues for the exchange of information, ideas and opinions.</p>
<p><strong>Period of Public Comment</strong></p>
<p>Any member of the public or staff who wishes address the Supervisors may do so by completing a Supervisors Meeting Participation Request Form. Comments will be limited to 5-10 minutes per participant. Public Comments will be accepted in the order in which they are received. If the Public Comments portion of the agenda is full, the Supervisors reserve the right to reschedule comments to the next regular meeting. The Supervisors reserve the right to waive formalities in emergency situations.</p>

<p><strong>Written Correspondence</strong></p>
<p>Written correspondence may be directed to the Supervisors, through the District Manager, for consideration at a meeting (must be received by the 15th of the month). Copies of all correspondence directed to the Supervisors will be made available to all Supervisors. Statements of (2) pages or less are recommended or a Public Participation at Supervisors Meeting form may be completed.</p>

<p><strong>Agenda Items</strong></p>
<p>Any member of the public or staff who wishes to have an item placed on the agenda will present the request in writing to the District Manager. The request must be presented by the 15th of the month to be scheduled at the monthly Supervisors meeting. Statements of (2) pages or less are recommended or a Public Participation at Supervisors Meeting form may be completed. The item will be appropriately placed on the agenda. The Supervisors reserve the right to impose reasonable restrictions on the number of items to be considered, the number of spokespersons and the speaking time (usually 20-30 minutes per agenda item) of the spokespersons appearing before the Supervisors. If the meeting agenda is full, the Supervisors reserve the right to reschedule an item to the next regular meeting. The Supervisors may refuse to address an issue that has not gone through the appropriate procedure. The Supervisors reserve the right to waive formalities in emergency situations.</p>
