2022 Missouri State Envirothon Testing Procedures

In order to qualify for the 2022 Missouri State Envirothon, a virtual/online Regional Qualifier Exam will be administered on April 6th.  The registration form for this exam  will be available on the www.moenvirothon.org website with a registration deadline of March 23rd.  No registration fee required.

The qualifier will consist of questions with a value of 20 points per resource concern for a combined total of 100 points.

The top 3 teams, scoring 55% or more, from each region will advance to the "in person" State Competition that is being held on May 4th at the Runge Center in Jefferson City.

Central Region Highlights

All 2020 events were canceled due to the health crisis and the 2021 regional events were all canceled as well; however, all teams were invited to participate in a Virtual State Envirothon.  This was followed up by the 1st place Missouri team, "Fort Osage" out of Independence, moving on to the Virtual NCF Envirothon, which was sponsored by Nebraska.  Central Region was represented by 4 teams at the state level virtual testing event, which included: 

  • Sacred Heart A from Sedalia placing 5th
  • Smith Cotton  from Sedalia placing 6th
  • Sacred Heart B from Sedalia placing 7th
  • Nichols Career Center from Jefferson City placing 10th

The Envirothon is a hands-on, problem solving, natural resource education program for high school students, grades 9-12. Each Envirothon team, consisting of five students, are challenged to fine tune critical thinking skills and work together in order to compete at outdoor stations that test their knowledge on aquatic ecology, soils/land use, forestry, wildlife and current environmental issue. In addition to these written tests, an oral component is in place where students present their solution to the problem given to them concerning the current issue topic for the year. The top three scoring teams of each of the seven regions will advance to state competition.
