2014 WIA Conference

9/15/14 - 9/17/14 Hannibal, Mo “River Style”

This is the 20th Annual Women In Agriculture Conference.
The conference is hosted in various locations in Missouri every year.
The torch was passed to Northwest Missouri for the 2015 Conference.

Monday kicked off with vendors, silent auction and a variety of workshops.  Ladies were able to enjoy workshops on Identifying & Managing Vegetable Diseases, Financial Statement Fundamentals, Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate, Do You Have Clutter, Raised Bed Gardening, Laughter “Just For The Health Of It”, and Using Apps To Manage The Farm. After the workshops the ladies had a lovely spread of Missouri Wine & Cheese to sample.  The evening banquet speaker was Dr. Jerry Crownover, followed by the Lady Landowner award presentation. Then the wonderful Hospitality Room opened, by the lighted pool, and had an excellent spread of food and dessert to choose from.

On Tuesday all the ladies loaded onto 3 tour buses to begin the adventure to visit URSA Farmers Cooperative in Canton, BASF The Chemical Company in Palmyra and toured the Rockcliffe Mansion in Hannibal.  The luncheon was hosted at the Old Stone House Inn in Palmyra.  Many ladies walked away with some mighty fine treasures at the Old Stone House Inn.  The Inn was loaded with antiques and many wonderful creative finds.  Several merchants choose to stay open later so all the ladies could visit their shops. And as always the fabulous Hospitality Room was open for the ladies to relax, renew friendships and make new friends.

On Wednesday the ladies enjoyed a presentation by the Women, Food & Agriculture Network, as well as visiting with supporters.  Closing Ceremony kicked off with the committee thanking everyone for attending the WIA Conference and a presentation was given by Chris Chinn “Putting A Face On Agriculture”.  The closing ended with the passing of the torch to the Northwest Region for 2015.  Anita Dunham, NW Region Hosting Committee Chair, gave a quick update on the location of the 2015 Conference which will be held at The Elms Hotel & Spa in Excelsior Springs.
