    The Lafayette County Soil & Water Conservation District is seeking board members for areas 1:  Davis & Freedom Township & Area 3:  Sni-A-Bar & Washington Township.  Nominations accepted November 1- 30, 2025. The qualifications required to be a supervisor are: 1. Being a land representative from the district. A land representative is defined as the owner or representative authorized by power of attorney of any farm lying within an area proposed to be established, and subsequently established, as a soil and water conservation district under Chapter 278, RSMo. Each farm is entitled to representation by a land representative: provided, however that the land representative is a taxpayer of the county within which the soil and water district is located, 10 CSR 70-4.010(1)(I) 2. Residing in, or owning a farm in, the area from which he/she is nominated where there is an expiring term. 3. Being a cooperator of the district, defined as, "a person who is actively engaged in farming and practices conservation activities related to agriculture”. 4. Being a current resident and tax-paying citizen of the county for at least two years preceding the election date. Section 278.110, RSMo. 5. Be eighteen (18) years of age or older by the election date and be willing to serve the full term they are elected for. 6. Provide a valid mailing address to the program office and notify the program of any change of address during their term.

  • Lafayette County SWCD Open House

    Please join us at our Lafayette County SWCD Open House on Friday, February 2, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the Lion's Club building at Fairground Park.    We will have a guest speaker starting at 9:00 am discussing grazing systems and cover crops.   We will also be awarding the winners of countywide poster contest for fourth graders.   The theme for 2024 contest is May The Forest Be With You Always.   There will be time to vote in our election for supervisors for Area I and III.   We will conclude with a free lunch at 11:00am. Please RSVP to the SWCD office at 660-584-8732 by Friday, January 26, 2024.

  • Public Participation at Supervisors Meetings Policy

    Lafayette Soil & Water Conservation District Public Participation at Supervisors Meetings Policy To provide for full and open communication between the public and the Lafayette Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisors, the Supervisors authorize the following avenues for the exchange of information, ideas and opinions. Period of Public Comment Any member of the public or staff who wishes address the Supervisors may do so by completing a Supervisors Meeting Participation Request Form.  Comments will be limited to 5-10 minutes per participant.  Public Comments will be accepted in the order in which they are received.  If the Public Comments portion of the agenda is full, the Supervisors reserve the right to reschedule comments to the next regular meeting.  The Supervisors reserve the right to waive formalities in emergency situations.   Written Correspondence Written correspondence may be directed to the Supervisors, through the District Manager, for consideration at a meeting (must be received by the 15th of the month).  Copies of all correspondence directed to the Supervisors will be made available to all Supervisors.  Statements of (2) pages or less are recommended or a Public Participation at Supervisors Meeting form may be completed.   Agenda Items Any member of the public or staff who wishes to have an item placed on the agenda will present the request in writing to the District Manager.  The request must be presented by the 15th of the month to be scheduled at the monthly Supervisors meeting. Statements of (2) pages or less are recommended or a Public Participation at Supervisors Meeting form may be completed.  The item will be appropriately placed on the agenda.  The Supervisors reserve the right to impose reasonable restrictions on the number of items to be considered, the number of spokespersons and the speaking time (usually 20-30 minutes per agenda item) of the spokespersons appearing before the Supervisors.  If the meeting agenda is full, the Supervisors reserve the right to reschedule an item to the next regular meeting.  The Supervisors may refuse to address an issue that has not gone through the appropriate procedure.  The Supervisors reserve the right to waive formalities in emergency situations.   • Wheat Policy Update

    Wheat Policy—the current 2019 Wheat Policy of allowing landowners who plant wheat in order to be moved to the top of the cost share list to receive funds early in the upcoming fiscal year has been suspended.  The wheat policy will be reevaluated when the Board has a better idea of future funding. Planting wheat will be given as an option to those landowners who are next on the staking list. Board approved 10/31/2018
