Women In Agriculture
The Scott County SWCD sponsors the Scott County Women in Agriculture group. The women raise funds each year to sponsor “Farm Day” held in April of each year. The event averages around 300 third graders from Scott County schools. Students visit stations and learn how agricultural products are grown and how the products relate to them in their every day lives. The group also awards a $500 scholarship each year for a Scott County student who has a family background in agriculture. Women in Ag host “Farm Day” for Scott County third graders in April.
In February of each year, the Scott County Soil and Water Conservation District conducts their annual meeting.
The Scott County SWCD hosts Ecology Days each year with partners from NRCS, Missouri Department of Conservation and University of Missouri Extension. This event averages 200 fifth grades that visit six stations located at a Scott County farm and learn about wildlife, soil conservation and aquatic life. Field days are held throughout the year. The Annual Tour of Practices showcases various practices throughout the county and are held in December each year. SALT tours are held to educate landowners for practices that are available through SALT. These tours include irrigation practices and pasture management practices.
