Each year, Envirothon provides more and more students with a chance to get "up-close and personal" with North America's natural resources. Envirothon offers both in-class curriculum and hands-on field experiences focused around ecology, natural resource management and current environmental issues. Missouri is divided into seven regions with Cole County being in the Central Region. Competition starts at the regional level with the top three regional winners advancing to the state competition. The state winner then represents Missouri at the national competition where they compete with teams from across the United States and Canada.
The state winner goes on to compete in the National Conservation Foundation Envirothon. Cole County schools interested in having an Envirothon team can contact our office at 573-893-5188, ext. 3 for more information.

Mid-Missouri Grazing Conference
This conference is full of information for the producer interested in learning about the newest technology and products for grazing, as well as workshops on issues producers face due to weather, diseases, etc. The conference is a one-day conference with lunch included in the registration fee.
One of the requirements for state cost-share on a grazing system is for the landowner or the grazing system manager to attend a grazing school. Every other year Cole County SWCD puts on a Grazing School that normally is held in the evening for 3 days. This allows those producers that work off the farm
a chance to meet this requirement for cost-share.
A field day is held that demonstrates the latest in forage equipment and also provides some training to local landowners on topics such as new seed varieties, fertilizers, grazing, etc. This is held every other year in Cole County.
Local contractors meet yearly to learn about changes to conservation practice standards and designs. Missouri One Call is usually at the meeting to tell about any new changes with their system. This workshop will be held in mid February, exact date and location has not been confirmed yet.
